Still dreaming of Jemima

Despite last month’s devestating loss, (well,it was for me!) I’m still dreaming of Jemima. I just adore her sound. Her look is pretty sublime as well. 🙂

Jemima Frances Ruby (had to flip middles, JRM are Fifi’s initials). So absolutely perfect. At least, I think so!

What middles would YOU pair with Jemima if Frances Ruby wasn’t perfectly fabulous for you? I’m just curious. Go ahead, let me know! 😀

Helen

I’m quite enamored with Helen at the moment.  It’s a definite family name for me, I have three Aunts with the name (well, 2 Helens 1 Helena) but I prefer simple Helen to Helena these days, even. And the last Helen is on her last legs as I type this. She’s not doing well at all.

I think it’s brilliantly simple and beautifully strong. Helen’s warm honey to me,  and I’m liking her a whole lot. Tried my hand at combos, preliminarily anyway. Here’s what I came up with, and is now narrowed a bit:

Helen Saffron Adele
Helen Calliope Jane
Helen Ursula Violet
Helen Isolde Ruby
Helen Aurelia Violet
Helen Rosamond Lily
Helen Tilley Violet

I decided to try Saffron out with Helen because they’re almost the same color (not shade) to me, Saffron’s yellow/orange gold and Helen’s honey gold. Ursula is one I just like.  ur -SU- lah.  Primrose is just a bit of whimsy I didn’t think would hurt Helen much and I tried the familial Tilley out in full, I figure, if Leo, Simon & Josephine have a family surname in the middle, Tilley should work too.  Of course, Jane, Lily, Ruby, Violet, Marigold, Ottilie & Lucy have significance and Isolde, Camilla, Calliope, Aurelia, Plum & Adele are just ones we like.  But I figure with two family names, I can spare a bit for something we just really like!

Anything jump out at you as emminently usable? Am I on the right track, at least? What do you think, anything?

As always, thanks a million for stopping by!

Frances Ruby

I’m sort of stuck on this pairing. Isn’t it sweet and just a little sassy? My Mother would kill me if she were still around but seeing as how she’s not and I still have a pretty visceral reaction when I see people that remind her of me (wanna know what really flips me out? Watch Mamma Mia, Meryl Streep in that flick looks a LOT like my Mom. Longer hair, not curly but the same shade of blonde, same nose, same movements) it makes me cry every time I watch it.

So yeah, She might forgive me. Might.

So I went looking. I have two where Frances is up front:
Frances Ruby Esme
Frances Ruby Adele

And here’s a small bunch with Frances Ruby in the middle:

Tallulah Frances Ruby
Cosima Frances Ruby
Stella Frances Ruby
Katharine Frances Ruby
Philippa Frances Ruby
Matilda Frances Ruby

Which way do you prefer it and is there any combo up there that seems a perfect fit? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one!

Ruby Marilyn

I’m loving this tiny pairing right now. Ruby warms Marilyn right up. And Marilyn is one of my favorite Aunties on Mom’s side that’s still alive. I love her to pieces! And of course, Ruby’s for me, the July kid.

But what to pair her with?  I have a few thoughts:

India Ruby Marilyn
Edith Ruby Marilyn
Esmée Ruby Marilyn
Beatrix Ruby Marilyn
Imogen Ruby Marilyn
Ottilie Ruby Marilyn
Xanthe Ruby Marilyn
Fenella Ruby Marilyn (yeah, he suggested this one!)
Mina Ruby Marilyn

Anything there jump out at you? I’m liking a few but don’t want to say anything now as to sway anyone. I want first thoughts on these, really. What do you like here? Or not?   Let me know!

Thanks!

Imogen again and a few Genevieve combos

I started thinking about how perfect Imogen is. Sound-wise, she’s crisp, clean looking and simply elegant. Sound wise, she’s sharp and pretty. Her color is simply golden and she looks fabulous with the forest green surname, like an Xmas decoration! And on top of that,  she’s Shakespearean, what’s not to love?

I have a few combos for her that really appeal:

Imogen Violet Jane
Imogen Sylvie Jane
Imogen Clio Violet
Imogen Lily Elinor
Imogen Ruby Valentine
and the real oddball: Imogen Ruby Malu

Now, for Genevieve combos. This is how I spent my time last night. Watching Monty Python;  have the whole series (all 46 episodes) and last night was the “Spam” , the Royal Episode #13. “Whicker’s World” (Njorl’s Saga), and “Mr. & Mrs. Brian Norris’ Ford Popular”. So my brain was free to wander while I laughed my fool head off. Yeah, we average about 4 episodes a night  (And I found my head at to foot of the big screen).  😛

Anyway, Genevieve combos:

Genevieve Iris Elinor
Genevieve India Pearl
Genevieve Viola Frances
Genevieve Lucy Elinor
Genevieve Ottilie Jane
Genevieve Sylvie Plum
Genevieve Esme Lily
Genevieve Lily Katharine
Genevieve Mina Violet
Genevieve Carys Primrose

Anyone wanna help me narrow it down?  We each have a favorite or two among these, but I’m staying mum on that for now!  Any thoughts welcome and as always, thanks for stopping by!  😀

Susanna

Susanna’s new to my lists, sort of. I’ve toyed with her before. She’d honor me; Susanne is my second middle for my mom’s best friend.  I really dislike Susanna with the ‘H’ on the end, that ‘H’ clunks it up too much for me. But Susanna, just beautiful.  I like the potential for Sukie/Sookie and have been wondering if Daisy as a possible nickname isn’t too far-fetched. After all black-eyed susans are a type of daisy, right? So yeah, another way to get Daisy. I love Daisy. My Grandma would be thrilled!  Of course, now the house would be K, L, L, S, J & S, which rather annoys me but not so much that I still want to consider Susanna.

I have a few combos that make me happy in various ways:

Susannah Edith Plum
Susanna Iris Pearl
Susanna Ivy Jane
Susanna Jane Petronel
Susanna Margery Jane
Susanna Caroline Violet
Susanna Elspeth June
Susanna Romilly Violet
Susanna Poppy Adele
Susanna Ottilie Pearl
Susanna Lucy Pearl
Susanna Violet June
Susanna Viola Marilyn
Susanna Zoya Ruby/Alice/Jane/Frances/Maud
Susanna Sylvie June

There are a few that really stand out to me, but I want to see if any stand out to anyone else. Would you all be so kind as to flip though these and tell me what you like or really hate? I’d really appreciate it!  I’ll state my favorites later.

As always, thanks for stopping by and also for commenting!

Edith, Again!

I’ve been loving Edith/Edie for a good while now and have come up with a good dozen or so combos over that time that appeal to me in one fashion or another. Edith feels starchy and sweet to me, even artsy. The word that comes to mind first when I think Edith? bohemian. Yeah. And I love that. Edith could easily rank #2 if I find the combo that sings to me. All of these do, some in one style or the other but they all sing. Help me decide which one sings best? I’d really appreciate it! Here are the lot of them:

Edith Alice Bertille – the standard bearer. Elegant, luscious and sweet. She’s Barbershop.

Edith Esme Violetta – She’s Opera, without a doubt, Lush and heady.

Edith Rosalie Pearl – She’s a ditty. Sweet and happy.

Edith Malu Violet – She’s a Jungle rhythm. Heavy and full, very, very light on her feet. This one dances too.

Edith Ruby Elinor – She’s a Waltz. Feels very 18th century, to me.

Edith Viola Petronel – She’s musica mundana; universally harmonious. I love the creative vibe I get from her.

Edith Isobel Loveday –  Is Bluesy.  Just feels so blue and gorgeous.

Edith Ruby Pomeline –  Is a whole Orchestra! She’s full & rich. Just beautiful.

Edith Mary Bluebell – is a country tune. Sweet, a little sad but has a rollicking rhythm.

Edith Zenobia Violet –  She’s a Tango.  A little spicy and  sultry. 😉

Edith Romilly Lenore –  She’s a classical piece. She feels very faerie tale-ish to me. Light-hearted but has a dark streak. So lush!

Alright, there’s the different music types I get from each combo,  am I crazy or do you feel it too? At least a little bit?  Maybe?  Any up there that leap out at you as absolutely perfect? I’d love to know!

 as always, Thanks!

Winifred & Maud

My current infatuations on the girls side. I adore Maud and have for a while. She’s not so much an infatuation as a long term crush. I love her but don’t know how workable she is with the existing kids. Winfred’s a bit less long term. I’ve admired her for years but only recently have been brave enough to actually put her on the list.

I’ve been thinking of combos for Winifred and have pretty much decided on Winfred Esme as a first two. Esme for me honors Great Auntie Esmeralda, whose name I love but find a bit unwieldy with the scottish Mac- surname. So, my options are:
Winifred Esme Ruby
Winifred Esme Frances
and
Winifred Esme Valentine

Maud has her combo, Maud India Scarlett. I absolutely love it. She sounds so lush.

I also had the rather Victorian/gothy Maud Coralie Alice for a while but much prefer Maud India Scarlett.

What do you think of Winifred & Maud? Their combos?  Winifred’s my #4, Maud’s my #3 right now.  Am I crazy for thinking of these two?  Tell me! 😀

As always, Thanks for stopping by and speaking out!

Beatrix, Again

I can’t seem to let go of Beatrix, but I am rethinking her combo. Beatrix Poppy Elinor charms me with her upbeat sound and her bright colors but it feels almost too “British” if that makes any sense. But Beatrix, I can’t shake her off. I keep thinking “I hear her a lot online” And that scares me off a bit. I don’t want her to have a dated name, and I’m a touch afraid that Beatrix might. But I like her so! So I’m rethinking middles for her.

Which means,  I’m running a poll at BtN, as usual, and as usual, here are those poll choices;  in case you don’t want to bother clicking.

Beatrix Elinor Plum – Elinor honors the cousin,  Plum has a luscious sound I just want to be able to say daily!

Beatrix Esme Ruby – Esme for Esmeralda who sounds ridiculous with my surname, Ruby’s for me, my birthstone!

Beatrix Esme Valentine – Mentioned Esme above, Valentine’s for my Pop.

Beatrix Alice Rupinder– Alice should have been my name, to honor thwarted Mom, Rupinder is just a love. I love her feel, her sound and her look. Can’t ask for more!

Beatrix Malu Primrose– I love the sound of Malu (meaning’s pretty awesome too) Primrose is a cousin.

Beatrix Romilly Violet– Finally, Romilly where I would feel more comfortable, Violet for my favorite Auntie on Mom’s side.

Beatrix Lily Alice – Lily for Grandma Lily, Alice for my Mom again.

Beatrix Oona Pearl– Oona’s a love, I like her swoop, her feel: sleek and Pearl because I like the way it looks and sounds follwing Oona.

and can’t forget to add the standard bearer: Beatrix Poppy Elinor  – Poppies are one of my favorite flowers, the color alone makes me smile. My Uncle Jim thinks Poppy’s for him, they’re apparently his favorite flowers too. And Elinor’s that cousin again.

So, should I even bother? Is Beatrix going to be the next to jump upwards? (this is the same problem I have with Clementine, she’s gone from being #1 two years ago, to being #10, and that’s after being #17 for a good while) Anyway, should I worry, or is Beatrix worth it? And which combo do you like best? I’d love to know. Anyone happening along, feel free to add your 2¢!  New voices are always welcome!

 Update: Down to three combos:
Beatrix Scarlet Jane
Beatrix Elinor Plum
Beatrix Jemima Alice

Have a favorite here? Let me know, if you’re reading!

Agatha

I  absolutely love Agatha. I have since I was a kid. I first read Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians” (also known as “And Then There Were None”) when I was 7. I loved it and went on to read just about everything by her  a 7 year old could get her hands on. Thankfully, my Pop was sympathetic to the voracious reader I was then (and still am).  So Agatha not only brings back great memories of Pop, she makes me feel  good! I don’t mind Aggie as a possible nickname but am wondering if I could potentially get Thea out of Agatha as well.  Any other nickname options I’m not seeing?  Somehow, I think not.

I’ve had her on my list before, as Agatha Esme Bluebell (She started  as Esme Agatha Bluebell, but decided I liked Agatha better up front). I’ve been rethinking the combo, especially since Josephine got a baby doll for Xmas that she named Bluebell! Since then, I’ve  come up with  5 that charm me utterly:

Agatha Esme Plum – Esme’s for G. Auntie Esmeralda (whose name I adore but find too unwieldy with the Scots surname)
Agatha Alice Violet/Agatha Violet Alice (can’t decide which way)  – Alice for me, Violet for my most favorite Auntie.
Agatha Ruby Malu (I find this so fun to say aloud!) – Ruby’s for me, Malu I just adore her light feel!
Agatha Lily Frances – my Grandma & my Mom, ‘nuf said.
Agatha Lucy Rosalie – Lucy was my Mom’s top choice for me, Rosalie I just love. I’ve tried Rosalie just about everywhere but I’m really loving her here!

I just can’t decide among them yet, but maybe with a bit of help I could?  It’s after noon and here’s the Agatha   poll!  So, What do you think of the formidable Agatha and do you like any of my combos for her?

 As always, Thanks!  😀

Jemima

She’s risen to #3, right behind Cecily & Ottoline and directly ahead of Lucretia. I’m really loving  Jemima and her nickname options of Jemma & Mimi.  I find her fresh, sprightly and feminine. Jemima’s really a lovely name if you can get past the pancake thing! 😀  I’ve had Jemima Frances Ruby on my list for a little over a year now and I will admit she started out as  Ruby Frances Jemima & Frances Jemima Ruby.  Both were attempts to find a home for Jemima. And after a few weeks, I figured, why not Jemima Frances Ruby? Tried it out and liked it, very much.  I don’t think Josephine & Jemima are too much of a mouthful, either.

I know the pancake thing is a turn off and her roots are even more so. But I’m tired of people saying because it was used badly,  it’s off limits. Why? The practice was shameful, the name isn’t. She’s Biblical, for goodness  sake!  I’m tired of trying to placate one & all. From now on the only ones I really want to please are Him & I. Jemima stays at #3, for now. Who knows, by next year, she may be #1!

Do you have any thoughts on Jemima? Any kid of mine is likely to be blond (or at least sandy brown) , with curly hair and eyes are up in the air (I have green, he has blue but we have a blue, a green & a brown eyed kid, one each) and about 5’10” tall for a girl,  I expect. (he’s short but I’m over tall and over tall runs predominantly on both sides of the families. Short is the aberration. (And by short, I mean 5’6″ or so for guys, 4’11 for girls, we have him, the lone short guy and I have a cousin [and had a great Aunt] that stand (stood) at 4’11”).  Do you think that description fits a Jemima? If not, what do you think a Jemima should look like?

Thanks!

Winifred :D

Winifred’s been on my mind for a few days. It’s my newest Auntie’s name (well, she’s been married to Skip for 5 years now, so new is a relative term…) and I like her very much, even though I only email with her and talk on the phone about once a week (someone needs to keep tabs on flaky Skip). I really like the sound of Winifred and find the possibility of Winnie to be most enticing. 😀   I could even pop in a Freda occasionally, I would think. 🙂   So, I’ve definitely been tossing around combos and have settled with this bunch as being most pleasing but cannot narrow it any further.  I’ll be posting them in a poll later on but for now, they’re just here. And here they are:

Winifred Elinor Plum
Winifred Romilly Violet
Winifred Ruby Katharine
Winifred Lily Alice
Winifred Esme Ruby
Winifred Carys Irena
Winifred Esme Ghislaine
Winifred Esme Loveday
Winifred June Kathleen/Winifred Kathleen June (I like this both ways!)
Winifred Poppy Esmée

What do you think of Winifred? Like her, hate her, love her? Think it’s insane to be thinking of Winifred these days? Maybe she’s ready for a comeback?  And, if you’d be so kind, which of the above combos do you like best and why. I’d appreciate it very much!  Thanks!
