The Official Girls List!

After three weeks of neverending name discussions we have a tenative girls list!
And boy, do I mean neverending. They start before breakfast, ” Which do you like better, Poppy, Penny or Nell”. Continues throughout the day in texts/chat/email, “What do you think of Philippa Andromeda”? and winds down over supper, “I still like Maud, could we give her initials that spell it out”? So I’m happy to report that from here on out, it’ll be a less intense discussion. 🙂

The list has 7 names plus 2 wildcards, one for Him (1) & one for me (2). Without further ado, the
‘Official’ Girls List!’

Penelope Juno Alice
Cecily Pandora Jane
Beatrix Juno Frances
Winifred Elinor Plum
Elspeth Scarlett Jane
Ottilie India Violet
Jemima Lucy Frances

(1) Philippa Guinevere Alice
(2) Clementine India Jane

Noot a bad set of 9,if I do say so myself. What do you think? Aw, c’mon, you know you wanna say something!

As always, thanks for reading! 😀

Frances Ruby

I’m sort of stuck on this pairing. Isn’t it sweet and just a little sassy? My Mother would kill me if she were still around but seeing as how she’s not and I still have a pretty visceral reaction when I see people that remind her of me (wanna know what really flips me out? Watch Mamma Mia, Meryl Streep in that flick looks a LOT like my Mom. Longer hair, not curly but the same shade of blonde, same nose, same movements) it makes me cry every time I watch it.

So yeah, She might forgive me. Might.

So I went looking. I have two where Frances is up front:
Frances Ruby Esme
Frances Ruby Adele

And here’s a small bunch with Frances Ruby in the middle:

Tallulah Frances Ruby
Cosima Frances Ruby
Stella Frances Ruby
Katharine Frances Ruby
Philippa Frances Ruby
Matilda Frances Ruby

Which way do you prefer it and is there any combo up there that seems a perfect fit? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one!

My “style”?

I am apparently all over the map, style wise. I really looked at my top lists the other day and was struck by the fact that I seem to have at least 2 separate styles. Weird and funky.  here, I’ve grouped them in similar piles:

Group 1
Maud India Scarlett
Ottilie Alice Ghislaine
Zelda Lucy Violet
Edith Zenobia Violet
Lilias Mehetabel June
Sylvie Mimosa Jane
Xanthe Iris Dorothea
Cleo Portia Rupinder
Cecily Pandora Jane

Group 2
Clementine India Jane
Jemima Lucy Maud
Lucretia Ruby Iris
Winifred Elinor Plum
Matilda Frances Ruby
Imogen Violet Jane
Beatrix Violet Jane
Euphemia Elinor Glory
Philippa Saskia Violet
Cecilia Violet Petronel

and those are just the girls!  I can do that to the boys too, to a lesser extent. See:

Group1
Rufus Wilder John
Remy Edward Xavier
Cosmo Henry George
Bruno Edward Rafael
Barnaby Edward Rex
Ignatius Edward George
Clarence Arthur Finlay
Caspar James Porfirio
Alasdair Barnaby George

Group 2
Arthur Henry Llewellyn
Oscar Valentin George
Linus Willem Bleys
Harvey Edward Augustin
Francis Henry Porfirio
Edward Balthazar George
Rafael August Anselm

So, do you agree, I’m mildly crazy? or do you see these in different groups?  Which group appeals more to you? Which ones? Anything really jump out at you up there? Let me know!

And, as always, thanks for stopping by!  😀

Philippa once again

Have been mulling Philippa yet again. Philippa Saskia Violet is the standard bearer but I’ve been thinking more “fun” than “solid” and came up with these few:

Philippa Lucy Jane
Philippa Ruby Jane
Philippa Romilly Elinor
Philippa Ottilie Pearl

So I’ve got ‘fun& cute’ twice, a little ‘trendy’ one, once and a ‘musty oddball’ one. And Philippa Saskia Violet is still on the wildcard list (but may be moving North soon).  I’m really liking the thought of Josephine & Philippa! And I even talked to Yvonne (the Swedish GF) who said as long as I was okay with hearing  just ‘Philippa’ from her, she could accept that. 🙂  Makes me happy, as I’m not entirely adoring of Pippa myself, it would be an occasional nickname at best. She’d be Pip or Pippin far more often at home, I think!

I’m really drawn to Philippa again. I heavily considered it for Josephine but ended up writing it off because it’s not exactly family. I say “exactly” because my Great Auntie Lesley’s married surname was Philips, so it could be considered a slightly honoring sort of name, perhaps.  What do you think? And yes, I like simply Philip as well, but we have three friends who are either named Philip/Phillip or have a son named so.

Anything up there strike you as “better” than Philippa Saskia Violet? or is she the keeper here? All thoughts are most welcome, as always!

Philippa & Gwendolen/Gwendolyn

Two names that have been in the back of my head for a few years, I see them being used occasionally online and am really warming up to both recently. Philippa is one I’ve been charmed with since before Josephine, I find her completely charming and she’s orange! (No clue why, either, most P’s are blue!) The other is Gwendolen (or Gwendolyn) which has been a favorite since babysitting one of the most fantastic girls (now women) I’ve ever known. Gwendolyn was 11 then, the oldest of the four kids I watched overnights and was so open, caring, friendly & poised, I loved her instantly. We used to sit and talk for hours after the other three (younger ones) were in bed & asleep. I met her again about 10 years later and she was a pre-med student on the local first aid squad, volunteer, the squad was. If I could remember her surname, I’d google her and tell her how awesome I thought she was (and still do), but I can’t.
But yeah, I love the name Gwendolyn and typical for me with Welsh names, prefer the Gwendolen spelling.
I’m only beginning to toy with combos:

Philippa Alice, Philippa Violet, Philippa Mary, Philippa Ruby, Philippa Iris, Philippa Ivy, Philippa Lucy, Philippa Lily, Philippa Daisy.

Gwendolyn Frances, Gwendolen Frances, Gwendolyn Ruby, Gwendolen Alice, Gwendolyn Oona, Gwendolen Iris, Gwendolen Plum, Gwendolyn Mina.

Like I said, just toying for now. I wonder what sort of reaction to these people would have, so I’d love to hear what you think of Philippa & Gwendolen/Gwendolyn (and of the latter, which spelling you prefer). Should I bother making full combos? C’mon, tell me! I’d love to hear!

Thanks a million!
