We stopped by the Country Store today, got the Kids a bit of candy, just like when they were little, and spotted the most adorable little Enzo! Yep, he was 2.5 and grabbing at everything he could get his hands on. We also spotted a tiny 3 mo. Amelie, a 7 yo. Vanessa and a wee George Thomas, who is a year old, tomorrow! Simon thought he was adorable, (which I thought was adorable). We’ve been out watching fireworks from the front lawn ( we’re on a hill, you see…) and I’m still so thrilled about the weekend, in general that I can’t sleep yet. I’m going to go play on the Xbox for a bit. Have a fabulous Fourth! 😀

Thinking “Normal”

Well, trying to anyway. Anytime I bring up something familiar, Edward, George, Francis are the three I’m playing with at the moment, he has to give me a huge list of odd things to use as middles. My goodness!
I’d solidified Edward a long time ago. Edward was my Uncle. Well, one of them, anyway (Frank, Benjamin, Leo & Stanley were the others on the maternal side). I hated the Uncle but love the cousin who was named for him. So in backwards thinking mode, it’s for him, not the Uncle. Edward Balthazar George. Has stood as such for nearly 4 years now. He’s my “Well, he looks too timid for anything else” combo. It sits at the bottom of the Wildcards pile and waits for his chance.
Francis is one I’ve liked forever, simply for his Frank appeal. I find Frank simply open and friendly. And the Uncle was an absolute doll. I have many fond memories. He’s lovely. And well, Francis polishes up very nicely. I’ve had Francis Henry Porfirio for at least a year. Tried out Francis Arthur Peregrin as well, he’s still stewing on it. Other recent tries were: Francis Dmitri Jude & Francis Milo George. Don’t know which I prefer FHP or FAP (either way, his final initials would be FM!
Â
Now for George! I’ve tried to put him up front before, with little success. But I tried again and came up with a few that I do find appealing. Here:
George Lucien Sylvester
George Constantin Gavriil
George Malcolm Amadeo
George Arthur Aloysius
George Maximilian Xavier
George Milo Valentin
George Malachy Wilder
George Laszlo Rafael
George Inigo Maxfield
George Rafferty Graeme
Â
Anything seem appealing up there? Anything you think might be better with a tweak?  Talk to me! 🙂
Â
As always, Thanks for stopping by! 😀

George is like my favorite middle name, ever. I like George paired with just about anything! Because I like him so much, I’ve tried to put him in first place but I’m having no success just yet. Like Maud, I think George is going to take a bit more work. I think my Pop would approve of George.
Some of my more random thoughts lately, anything strike you as keepable?
George Augustin
George Willoughby
George Cosmo (I have this flipped, as Cosmo Raphael George)
George Aloysius
George Hugo
George Valentin
George Laszlo
George Neville
George Rupert
George Casimir
George Alasdair (is also Alasdair Barnaby George)
George Luther
George Porfirio
George Lucius
George Louis (lou-ee, please)
Well, those are my first thoughts anyway. Should I keep any? or should I just leave George at he end of my combos as I’ve been doing? What do you think, folks?

Reinspired by Verity’s cousin,   Bruno has resurfaced on my lists. I had discussed him more in depth earlier: Bruno Revisited.
And confessed my favorite combo was Bruno Henry Valentin. Well, I still like it but am rethinking the combo. I have a dozen or more combos that I’m polling today. But here are the ones that appeal to us most:
Â
Bruno Edward Rafael
Bruno Xavier John
Bruno August Edward
Bruno Arthur George
Bruno Neville John
Bruno Francis John
Bruno Magnus Rafael
Bruno Rohan James
Bruno Arthur Jude
Anything there stand out more than Bruno Henry Valentin? Â
Â
I really like his warm, fuzzy feel. And do think he fits in the family. Not only is he a related family surname ( My Stepmom), but he gives off a “big” vibe. My boys are 6’2″ and 6’1 respectively and probably weigh between 175 and 200. (probably: I haven’t weighed them myself since they were 12 and haven’t accompanied them to the doctors since they were 19). So yes, Bruno fits. He’d even fit when little, Bruno feels solid, doesn’t he? All my kids are solid. The sort that knock you down at 2 if you’re not braced when they run at you for a hug. Josie knocked me over twice before I remembered that little gem! The boys used to do it all the time, and that was a bit worse, because they’d hit me together for a hug. Double whammy! 😀Â
I know there’s folks out there who just don’t like Bruno but I like that, actually. Means a lot of people won’t be using him! I just checked his rankings, and found Bruno’s charted between 900 & 700 since 2000. Before that, he bounced on & off the charts between 1968 and 1999, but mostly off. Prior to 1968, the only year he wasn’t on was 1883! So I’m more than comfortable with Bruno. Â
So, anything there that strikes you right or jumps out at you? We each have a favorite or two up there but wonder which one others might like? As always, Thanks! 😀

I’m still working on Cosmo. I don’t want to lose him because he feels so beautiful to me but can’t think of a combo that sings like Rufus’. Cosmo Henry Graham was it for the longest time, an still is, for the most part. I really dig Cosmo George ____ but think Cosmo _____ George flows better. I’ve had Cosmo Willem George too, which pleases me but no one else, it seems. So I went thinking again, because I *really* like Cosmo _____ George; here’s the few that I’ve come up with:
Cosmo Rohan George – That Rohan like Rowan, not Ro-han, like LOTR, although I could live with that if he gets it.This combo’s blue green yellow to me. Blue for Cosmo, Green for Rohan and yellow for George.
Cosmo Maxfield George – Maxfield again for Parrish, my favorite artist of all time. I really dig this one but think the flow’s a bit off. Am I crazy? blue, green yellow here. Maxfield’s a pretty subdued green.
Cosmo Alasdair George – Flow’s spot on and I really like Alasdair. Not as much as Maxfield but almost. Alasdair’s silver. Blue, silver, yellow. Kind of pretty but a bit bright.
Cosmo Gavriil George – I adore Gavriil, he was one of my G. Uncles. I think I’ve mentioned Gavriil before. It’s pronounced: gah-vree-EEL I slur it a bit, so it comes out more like gah-vrEEL, but that’s how I always heard it as a kid, I don’t think the family’d freak too badly. And I think he’s kind of funky. I like Gavriil, about as much as Maxfield, both in looks and sound. Blue, copper, yellow. Gavriil’s a pretty coppery orange and meshes well between the other two.
And that’s it. Nothing more strikes my fancy between Cosmo & George.
What do you think? Anything leap out at you as nifty? Talk to me! 🙂
The Newest Appealers

Okay, so that was rather odd for a title but it’s about as dead on as I can think right now. I have a small set of names that have been appealing to me and they’re not quite my usual fare. I don’t want to make combos with them, I don’t want to use them, I just want to admire them. Is that weird? 🙂 I suppose in a way, yeah.
But I was thinking, if I have these that appeal, but have no inclination to use, what does that make them? Not GP’s, because they’re perfectly ordinary names (for the most part). Here they are:
Sylvie – it’s so crystal clear & crisp. Sharp, even. But so sweet too. Too simple for me to actually use, Sylvie’s so pretty!
Clotilde – Before you shriek; clo-TEELD, there’s no clot- sound. I think she’s so light & delicate. Absolutely sky blue too. Just beautiful.
Claud – Yeah, really. I love him in French and think the pronunciation in English can be dealt with. I love the way he looks. What is it with me and losing that final ‘e’? Claude feels a bit brutish to me, not so Claud. Weird, no?
George – Maybe it’s me, I think Washington, Monkey (and man with Yellow hat), and Carlin before Bush. And those three save George for me. I like him because in a roundabout way, he honors my Pop, who would have made a fabulous George but settled for being his Patron Saint. I did spend time trying to be happy with George up front, but none of my other favorites sound right with George up front.
And the wild one: Vashti. I did make a combo I was happy with a long time ago (at leat a year ago) Vashti Amandine Faye. But the combo no longer appeals yet Vashti still does; what sort of freakish nonsense is this? Vashti? So lush, rich and beautiful. Doesn’t fit wth Josephine but Vashti still appeals. Definitely wild. ;D
Â
So there’s my “I don’t want to do anything but admire” appealing bunch. Do you have any names like this? What are they? and what do you think of mine?
And now for something completely different!

Tavish. Scottish Thomas. Thomas is off limits in my house thanks to the numerous alcoholics named Thomas still staggering around. But Tavish would honor my favorite of the sots (he really is a sweet guy, even soused) and neatly sidesteps the “You named him Thomas” thing, I’d likely get from family.
I’ve got him paired with my two favorite classics, Edward & George and several of my favorite oddballs. Here for your perusal, Tavish.
Â
Tavish Edward Finian
Tavish Edward Lysander
Tavish Edward Albion
Tavish Edward Alaric
Tavish Edward August
Tavish George Peregrin
Tavish George Rohan
Tavish George Maxfield
Tavish George Gavriil
Tavish George Maximilian
Â
I like all of these for various reasons, Finian because he’s dashing next to Tavish Edward, Lysander because he’s one of my favorite Shakespearean characters, Albion because I love the over English feel of the combo, Alaric because I love all things Medieval and he goes quite nicely here, August for Mom, as always. Peregrin because it’s slightly more masculine than Peregrine, for me and still is recognisable as my favorite LOTR character (non human, anyway). Rohan because he’s sleek and I love saying him (Rowan, not Ro-HAN), Maxfield for my favorite artist, ever, Gavriil for Great Uncle Gavriil and Maximilian just because I love his overblown style.Â
Â
So there you have it. Anything jump out at you as pretty neat? Let me know! Thanks!

Verity used Rufus as the NotD today and I admit, he’s charming as heck. Rufus has been on my lists since at least 1989 and “Bill & Ted” (And launched my career as a Keanu Reeves fan, too). But that’s another story!
I remember being 22, sitting in the theater thinking :”Rufus George, hmm, not bad”. yes, even a namegeek then. 😀 So when I remembered that, I started thinking. And ended up with Rufus George Porfirio. As anyone who knows me knows, Porfiro is my Zelda for the boys. I’ve loved his sound since I was 2 and if I’d been thinking a little clearer when I had the boys, they’d be Leo Ambrose & Simon Porfirio. Oh well. I seem to be leaning towards Porfirio as a second middle, where he won’t hurt anyone but I can still enjoy him.  I could also do these:
Â
Rufus Edward Porfirio
Rufus James Porfirio
Rufus Martin Porfirio
Rufus Niall Porfirio
Rufus Graham Porfirio
Rufus Edwin Porfirio
Rufus Claude Porfirio
&
Rufus Elliot Porfirio
Â
Any of those stand up better than Rufus George Porfirio?   I think I like the simplicity of George best between Rufus and Porfirio. I could go into why I paired each of these with Rufus ___ Porfirio, but think I’d rather hear what you like of them without the associations. If you want, I’ll post the associations later on tonight.
Â
 Thanks a million!

I’m not crazy, honest. Just feeling badly that the Cosmo combo we had wasn’t entirely pleasing him. He’s worth pleasing, crazy as he can be. 🙂 So we went digging together. Showed him the announcement I found with George Cosmo on it. Absolutely sold him on George with Cosmo. Interesting, that. 😀
To the point, I’ve got Cosmo polls going today, Cosmo1 and Cosmo2Â Just trying out weird things that pleased him last night. It’s so lovely having a partner who’s slightly more name obsessed than I am!
The general pattern between the two polls is Cosmo George. George for St. George. (he just called and suggested Cosmo Stanley Jude)!  Stanley for my Uncle. Reminded him Stanley was also his evil father as well as my crazy Uncle and he says he likes it anyway. Stanley’s really stolid and I don’t like the family associations on either side but what do you think?  I definitely prefer Cosmo George Something or Cosmo something George over Stanley Jude.Â
Some of the combos in the poll that tickle my fancy in one way or another:
Cosmo Lucien George
Cosmo Valentin George
Cosmo George Porfirio (I like the sounds of the s, m, G, P & f together like that.)
Cosmo Valerian George
Cosmo George Reuel
Why not take a gander at the poll(s) and then tell me what you think? Thoughts,  meanderings, or even opinions are always welcome! 🙂
