Rex is King!

I’ve been mildly obsessing over Rex the last few days and am attempting to put him in front, which is proving difficult.

Now, I’ve had Rex as a nickname for Remy Edward Xavier (read the initials) and Remy is not leaving my lists anytime soon. Remy is fabulous with my surname!

But I digress. Rex. Rex is simple, strong, snappy and above all, regal. I like all that. So, here are my first attempts to pair Rex:

Rex Peregrin James
Rex Edward Valentine
Rex Alasdair John
Rex Willem James
Rex Willem Wilder
Rex Henry Gavriil
Rex William Valentin
Rex Aurelian Edward
Rex Taliesin John
Rex Valentin James
Rex Alasdair James

So, anything up there jump out at anyone as pretty good? Do I need to hit the lists again? I know Rex is not everyone’s cup of meatloaf, but really…talk to me! I’d love to hear opinions!

As always, Thanks a million for stopping by. ūüėÄ

Duking it out with the Boys

We’ve been arguing the top¬†3¬† boys for what seems like days. I really want Cosmo Valentin George (or maybe Cosmo George Valentin). He’d rather Barnaby Edward Rex, Rufus, where we’re still figuring out middles ¬†or Remus Edward Xavier.¬†
¬†Cosmo’s got family significance for me,¬† as do Valentin & George. Barnaby’s just a love as is Remus. But both middles honor; one straighforward, one in a roundabout manner that would make my Mother proud.¬† With this last one I’d much rather go the family route that I’ve used before, whereas he’d rather break the mold and just go nuts with this last one. I think it’s as simple as he didn’t really get a whole lot of say with Leo or Simon. he was on the other side of the world when they were born and pretty much all he’d said was Nicolas or James (IIRC, anyway) and neither one have either in their names. Now, he loves their names and doesn’t say anything about being thwarted like that but it may be in the back of his head.¬†

I’ve been seeing Cosmo pop up in other people’s lists recently, three times in the last two weeks alone.¬† Right here is the most recent:¬†¬† Chanel’s List

And it’s not mine, I swear, here:¬† Mine.¬† Cosmo’s not even on my list because while he was there, he got nothing but awful comments. I love him and am keeping him on the list no matter what anyone else says. Only he’s got the right to really bump him off the list. Or me. But you folks can at least say which you’d prefer overall, up front, and why or why not. I do try to take into accout popualr opinion even if it doesn’t seem that way. ūüėĬ†

¬†Just a quick word about nicknames since I’ve turned into a proliferate nicknamer with Josephine in the house!¬† Cosmo would probably get Coz about as often as he’d get Cosmo in full. Barnaby would get Barney, Bex or simply B while Remus would most likely be Remy¬† or Rex, for his initals at least once in awhile! Rufus is the only one on the list at the moment without an obvious nickname. I rather like that, it’s more like Leo & Simon, who have nicknames but none really from their names.

So, what do you think? I’d love to know!¬†

As always, Thanks for stopping by!

Malcolm

It’s Malcom’s day! I’ve liked him for a long time, since I was a teen, at least. I find him strong, handsome, smart and fun to say. He’s truly awesome, in a whole host of ways. Sound, looks, feel, color, even:¬†

He’s a lovely shade of green, vibrant!¬†¬† india_k-lakshmi-krishna11¬†After toying with Barnaby in first, I will admit, I’m far more comfortable with him in the middle, I have him in my #2 combo: Cassius Barnaby Rex (I know it’s not something that’s to everyone’s taste) & here, with Malcolm: Malcolm Barnaby Edward. I also have Malcolm in another combo but I don’t like him quite as much: Malcolm Alasdair Rhys. I think it’s got a great sound, overall but he’s a bit too Scottish, even for me in the end.

But Malcolm sounds great with the MacK surname and I must say, his kingly overtones make me happy.¬†¬†¬†He’s linked to my favorite Shakesperian tale and my favorite Star Trek Bad guy: Malcolm McDowell¬† (A Clockwork Orange remains a big favorite of mine due to it’s sheer oddness).¬† I even once got to have lunch with Malcolm Forbes. I used to go to air shows frequently and there was one in NJ (when I was living there), near Readington that I got lucky at. I literally ran into the man and offered my picnic lunch as an apology. He accepted but insisted I join him at it. ¬†What a lovely, warm, friendly man. ¬†¬†I asked Verity¬†to cover him for me back in September.¬† She did a most admirable job.

So, while I’m besotted, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Malcolm and his combo. You can’t possibly hurt my feelings and I’d welcome any thinks you may have about him!

Thanks!

The Scattered Boys

Once again, tromping through the boys that, these days, roll around in my head on any given day!

Remy, Rex, Remus & the lone Celtic name on my list: Alasdair!

Verity¬†gave me a thought late yesterday. Remy Edward Xavier. I’ve had Remus Edward Xavier on my list for months now, nickname potentials: Remy or Rex (for his initials!) But if I used Remy Edward Xavier , I could still occasionally call him Rex for his initials and¬† just use Remy everyday. My only pause is simple, is Remy too casual for a grown man Can anyone picture a 40 year old Remy?¬† I think I can, but I still waffle. I can clearly see an older Remus, I know one.¬† He’s just starting to go gray these days and it wears pretty well on him.

So I’ve run a poll¬†between Remy Edward Augustin, Remy Edward Xavier & Remus Edward Xavier. As¬†of this minute, Remus is in the lead but It’s only been up for half an hour. I don’t count anyone out yet!

I’m running off Rex, he came in as a three way tie yesterday.¬† I must admit Rex Porfirio Noble is the odd beast that appeals most. So strong!¬† But he’s a completely wildcard. If I can get Rex some other way, I will probably take it.¬† I know my own proclivities best!

And I just wanted to run my Celtic oddball past you all, Alasdair Barnaby George.¬† George is for St George, who was my Pop’s patron Saint and his statue stood on his dresser forever. It’s now on mine.¬† Alasdair just because I love him, he’s so sharp & handsome! Barnaby’s long been my preferred Barn-name. The reason he’s in the middle? I don’t like the potential Barney. If anyone can come up with another nickname possibility, I may put him up front! As of now, Alasdair Barnaby George would be Alec or AB. I’m liking the initials for some reason.¬† I don’t think he’s too unreasonable a name or combo and I think he’ll age pretty well too. He’s a bit odd when standing next to the boys, Leo, Simon & Alasdair? But seems perfectly fine when standing next to just Josephine: Josephine & Alasdair? See?

Well, there’s the ramble, seems to be a bit less rambling than I thought!¬†

Rex

My favorite of the “Kingly” names. He’s short, simple and oh so strong! I’ve gotten lots of ‘dog name’,¬† one ¬†‘sounds like a bark’ and even ‘pretentious’ more than once. I rarely, if ever hear anything nice about him, which makes me kind of sad, he’s so handsome, how can he be universally hated?

Wanna know a secret?  I love him anyway!

I think he’s pretty awesome, all that power in three little letters. I love that he simply *is* ‘king’ in Latin. He’s fun to write¬†out too.¬† I’m working on using him up front in all his glory, but for now, he resides in third place in our second place combo: Cassius¬†Barnaby Rex. I also have him as a nickname possibility for our third place combo: Remus Edward Xavier. Remy as his nickname is far more likely but take a gander at those initials, REX!¬† ūüėÄ

Aint that just awesome?

What I would love to know, is this: of the two, which do you like better?
Cassius Barnaby Rex or Remus Edward Xavier?

Anyone?

And some Rex combos:

Rex Benjamin Arthur
Rex Lucien Malachy
Rex William Martin
Rex Julien Oscar
Rex Barnaby Edward
Rex Malachy Edward
Rex Peregrin August

The folk at Behind the Name will be voting on them tomorrow, I’ll provide the link here, when I have it.
