Working on Cecily Again

I’m still loving Cecily to honor Babci Cecilia/Cecylia. I’ve had a lovely combo for awhile now too: Cecily Pandora Jane. As you might recall, Pandora’s his Mom’s real first name and Jane was my Mom’s middle.
But I’ve been rethinking a bit.

Cecily Violet Petronel is a combo I’m revisiting. I love Cecily Violet together and Petronel not only honors great uncle Pyotr, I love Petronel’s fairytale feel.

I’ve also got:
Cecily Scarlet Godeleve (he Loves this one)
Cecily Winifred Malu
Cecily Scarlett Matilde
Cecily Petronella Grey
Cecily Violet Elinor (is almost too bland for me, but he rather likes it)
Cecily Valentina Grey
Cecily Oona Violet (I’m loving Oona in the middle!)
Cecily Esmée Violet (which honors as well: Esmeralda/Esmée/Esme. I prefer the girlier Esmée.)
Cecily Violet Raube (Raube is my Grandma’s maiden name)
Cecily Violet Odetta

So, do you think I should stick with Cecily Pandora Jane or do one of these newer thoughts strike you more? I would love to know! And as always, thanks for stopping by.

Helen

I’m quite enamored with Helen at the moment.  It’s a definite family name for me, I have three Aunts with the name (well, 2 Helens 1 Helena) but I prefer simple Helen to Helena these days, even. And the last Helen is on her last legs as I type this. She’s not doing well at all.

I think it’s brilliantly simple and beautifully strong. Helen’s warm honey to me,  and I’m liking her a whole lot. Tried my hand at combos, preliminarily anyway. Here’s what I came up with, and is now narrowed a bit:

Helen Saffron Adele
Helen Calliope Jane
Helen Ursula Violet
Helen Isolde Ruby
Helen Aurelia Violet
Helen Rosamond Lily
Helen Tilley Violet

I decided to try Saffron out with Helen because they’re almost the same color (not shade) to me, Saffron’s yellow/orange gold and Helen’s honey gold. Ursula is one I just like.  ur -SU- lah.  Primrose is just a bit of whimsy I didn’t think would hurt Helen much and I tried the familial Tilley out in full, I figure, if Leo, Simon & Josephine have a family surname in the middle, Tilley should work too.  Of course, Jane, Lily, Ruby, Violet, Marigold, Ottilie & Lucy have significance and Isolde, Camilla, Calliope, Aurelia, Plum & Adele are just ones we like.  But I figure with two family names, I can spare a bit for something we just really like!

Anything jump out at you as emminently usable? Am I on the right track, at least? What do you think, anything?

As always, thanks a million for stopping by!

___ Mimosa Jane

I admit it, I’m stuck on Mimosa Jane as a pairing. I think it’s fresh & sweet. I know it needs a bit of grounding; Mimosa’s pretty far out but I think Jane does an admirable job of bringing Mim back to earth.

So I went digging, came up with these few. BtN won’t let me poll yet, I have no clue what I did when yesterday but apparently after 2 was my main posting time there. When I get the chance, these will be there, so if you’re so inclined, go look for them there later. Otherwise, here they are for your perusal. Which ones work and do you like any?

Agatha Mimosa Jane
Salome Mimosa Jane
Esmee Mimosa Jane
Romilly Mimosa Jane
Laetitia Mimosa Jane
Cecilia Mimosa Jane
Philippa Mimosa Jane
Sylvie Mimosa Jane
Anthea Mimosa Jane
Sibyl Mimosa Jane

So there they are. There’s three I really dig and would put on the list so quickly! But I’m staying mum on them for now. I really want to see what the rest of you think, first! 😀

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Lilias ____ Celestine

I’m giving this pairing another shot. I like the crystal clear, sharp sparkly feel of Celestine (funny how it differs so radically from muddy Celeste, in my head)
I had Lilias Sibyl Celeste but overall, far too ssss-y. So here’s another try:

Lilais Ivy Celestine
Lilias Agatha Celestine
Lilias Ursula Celestine (Ursula- ur-SUE-la)
Lilias Isadora Celestine
Lilias Rowena Celestine
Lilias Elvira Celestine (Elvira- el-VEER-ah)
Lilias Caroline Celestine
Lilias Romilly Celestine
Lilias Primrose Celestine
Lilias Mathilda Celestine
Lilias Rosalba Celestine
Lilias Allegra Celestine
Lilias Sylvie Celestine (too sss-y again?)
Lilias Violet Celestine
Lilias Malu Celestine
Lilias Rosalind Celestine
Lilias Marilyn Celestine
Lilias Zoya Celestine
Lilias Annabel Celestine

So, anything there? Or should I just stick with what he likes: Lilias Mehetabel June? Hmmm. Don’t know myself just yet, want to give me a few thoughts?

Imogen again and a few Genevieve combos

I started thinking about how perfect Imogen is. Sound-wise, she’s crisp, clean looking and simply elegant. Sound wise, she’s sharp and pretty. Her color is simply golden and she looks fabulous with the forest green surname, like an Xmas decoration! And on top of that,  she’s Shakespearean, what’s not to love?

I have a few combos for her that really appeal:

Imogen Violet Jane
Imogen Sylvie Jane
Imogen Clio Violet
Imogen Lily Elinor
Imogen Ruby Valentine
and the real oddball: Imogen Ruby Malu

Now, for Genevieve combos. This is how I spent my time last night. Watching Monty Python;  have the whole series (all 46 episodes) and last night was the “Spam” , the Royal Episode #13. “Whicker’s World” (Njorl’s Saga), and “Mr. & Mrs. Brian Norris’ Ford Popular”. So my brain was free to wander while I laughed my fool head off. Yeah, we average about 4 episodes a night  (And I found my head at to foot of the big screen).  😛

Anyway, Genevieve combos:

Genevieve Iris Elinor
Genevieve India Pearl
Genevieve Viola Frances
Genevieve Lucy Elinor
Genevieve Ottilie Jane
Genevieve Sylvie Plum
Genevieve Esme Lily
Genevieve Lily Katharine
Genevieve Mina Violet
Genevieve Carys Primrose

Anyone wanna help me narrow it down?  We each have a favorite or two among these, but I’m staying mum on that for now!  Any thoughts welcome and as always, thanks for stopping by!  😀

Susanna

Susanna’s new to my lists, sort of. I’ve toyed with her before. She’d honor me; Susanne is my second middle for my mom’s best friend.  I really dislike Susanna with the ‘H’ on the end, that ‘H’ clunks it up too much for me. But Susanna, just beautiful.  I like the potential for Sukie/Sookie and have been wondering if Daisy as a possible nickname isn’t too far-fetched. After all black-eyed susans are a type of daisy, right? So yeah, another way to get Daisy. I love Daisy. My Grandma would be thrilled!  Of course, now the house would be K, L, L, S, J & S, which rather annoys me but not so much that I still want to consider Susanna.

I have a few combos that make me happy in various ways:

Susannah Edith Plum
Susanna Iris Pearl
Susanna Ivy Jane
Susanna Jane Petronel
Susanna Margery Jane
Susanna Caroline Violet
Susanna Elspeth June
Susanna Romilly Violet
Susanna Poppy Adele
Susanna Ottilie Pearl
Susanna Lucy Pearl
Susanna Violet June
Susanna Viola Marilyn
Susanna Zoya Ruby/Alice/Jane/Frances/Maud
Susanna Sylvie June

There are a few that really stand out to me, but I want to see if any stand out to anyone else. Would you all be so kind as to flip though these and tell me what you like or really hate? I’d really appreciate it!  I’ll state my favorites later.

As always, thanks for stopping by and also for commenting!

Penelope Redux

I’m still enamored with Penelope and trying on a few different thoughts on her. Here’s are the lovely ladies, all:

Penelope Violet Jane – simple, sweet and leaves the focus on Penelope. Violet for Auntie, Jane for Mom. But I’m not sure, in the end, if this simple will pass him, who loves pomp, circumstance and blustery stuff. 🙂

Penelope Marilyn Jane – Marilyn’s another Aunt, still a love but one of my very favorites since she gave me my favorite cousins & ones closest to my age. She was the only one to really comfort me after my Mom died and I’ve been looking for a way to honor her. I think Marilyn’s got a nice modern sound but feels very retro, and I like that her sound goes well with Penelope and is still lightened up with Mom’s Jane. Her initials would mimic those of my cousin Pam, too (one of Marilyn’s daughters), which is a nice tie in with the family.

Penelope Saskia Violet– I’ve mentioned this one before in passing but I’ve found her growing on me. Saskia’s his mom’s middle name and Violet’s that lovely, long gone Aunt who treated me as if I were hers. I like this one a whole lot but wonder how weird it may come across to anyone else. This one would definitely pass his judgment, Saskia’s odd enough for him and family enough for me.

Penelope Saskia Jane –  Again with his Mom’s middle, but this time paired with Mom’s middle, Jane.

Penelope Zoya Jane
– Zoya’s Russian Zoe, and while I like Zoe, find Zoya more in line with the family group. I think she’ simply gorgeous! And honors my ancestry while giving him his Z!  Jane is, as always, for Mom.

Anything up there grab anyone, in particular? I do like them all but for different reasons. And I don’t think I could narrow them down much beyond these, they all mean something to me. As usual, he’s the “Whatever you want” for a girl, which is rather liberating in general but feels weird considering the push/shove we do over boys. He wasn’t this laid back last time! 😀

So, anyone have a favorite up there? Which one? 🙂

Agatha Violet

Still really liking Agatha and toying with more combos. Agatha Violet Alice is the standard bearer, for now. But still thinking:

Agatha Violet Jane
Agatha Violet Isabel
Agatha Cecily Violet
Agatha Violet Frances/Agatha Frances Violet (Can’t decide which way I like this one, AFV so far)
and
Agatha Violet Maud – I love the colors but maybe Maud is too heavy with only Violet to lighten this combo up?

Obviously I’m not entirely settled on Agatha Violet Alice. I mean I could live with her but she doesn’t sing, you know? Sometimes it just doesn’t happen.  Anyone else have any thoughts on Agatha? I’d love to hear them!

Cat prompted me to finally do it. I’d been thinking of changing my theme, what do you think?

Clementine Redux

Working on the thought I barely recalled: Clementine, nn Cleo. Since I adore Cleo and thoroughly like Clementine I figured I should try out some different combos for her, see if anything really jumps out out me. Wanna see? 😀

Here goes:

Clementine Portia Clotilde – love the lush feel of this one
Clementine Lucy Isobel – feels a bit expected.
Clementine India Maud – ooh, interesting, I love India and well, Maud’s in contention for first place…
Clementine Alice Elinor – very pretty.
Clementine Eos Faye – No one’s going to ‘get” Eos, but she’s so pretty!
Clementine Mina Alice – love Mina and Alice together.
Clementine India Jane – a bit crisper than India Maud.
Clementine Ottilie Echo – Alright, so Echo’s whimsy. It gets two of my favorite names in there with the whimsy.
Clementine Ivy Agatha – Or maybe Agatha Ivy, either way, Agatha grounds both very nicely.
Clementine Sylvie Violet – Loving Sylvie recently and Violet’s gorgeous and honors.
Clementine Jemima Adele – Love, love, love Jemima andAdele feels light & sweet here.
Clementine Esme Viola -terminally elegant!
Clementine Violet Rosalind – maybe too nature-y all around?
Clementine Agatha Violet – utterly charming, Agatha Violet.
Clementine Edwina Violet – I love Edwina, she’s charmingly quaint. Violet honor, again.
Clementine Lily Adele – Lily honors Grandma, Adele is just sweet. (now if I could just get him to stop saying Adele like they do in “Natural Born Killers…)
Clementine Lilias Pearl – Lilias honors Grandma a bit more circularly, Pearl just charms me.
Clementine Viola Odette – still hooked on those Opera names!
Clementine Maud Elinor – My beloved Maud with Honoring Elinor.
Clementine Alice Grey – Still feeling a bit Steampunkish, this suits the mood. And feels sort of buttoned up and respectable at the same time.

So there you go, along with all my thoughts at the moment. What do you think?  Let me know!

As always, Thanks!

Beatrix, Again

I can’t seem to let go of Beatrix, but I am rethinking her combo. Beatrix Poppy Elinor charms me with her upbeat sound and her bright colors but it feels almost too “British” if that makes any sense. But Beatrix, I can’t shake her off. I keep thinking “I hear her a lot online” And that scares me off a bit. I don’t want her to have a dated name, and I’m a touch afraid that Beatrix might. But I like her so! So I’m rethinking middles for her.

Which means,  I’m running a poll at BtN, as usual, and as usual, here are those poll choices;  in case you don’t want to bother clicking.

Beatrix Elinor Plum – Elinor honors the cousin,  Plum has a luscious sound I just want to be able to say daily!

Beatrix Esme Ruby – Esme for Esmeralda who sounds ridiculous with my surname, Ruby’s for me, my birthstone!

Beatrix Esme Valentine – Mentioned Esme above, Valentine’s for my Pop.

Beatrix Alice Rupinder– Alice should have been my name, to honor thwarted Mom, Rupinder is just a love. I love her feel, her sound and her look. Can’t ask for more!

Beatrix Malu Primrose– I love the sound of Malu (meaning’s pretty awesome too) Primrose is a cousin.

Beatrix Romilly Violet– Finally, Romilly where I would feel more comfortable, Violet for my favorite Auntie on Mom’s side.

Beatrix Lily Alice – Lily for Grandma Lily, Alice for my Mom again.

Beatrix Oona Pearl– Oona’s a love, I like her swoop, her feel: sleek and Pearl because I like the way it looks and sounds follwing Oona.

and can’t forget to add the standard bearer: Beatrix Poppy Elinor  – Poppies are one of my favorite flowers, the color alone makes me smile. My Uncle Jim thinks Poppy’s for him, they’re apparently his favorite flowers too. And Elinor’s that cousin again.

So, should I even bother? Is Beatrix going to be the next to jump upwards? (this is the same problem I have with Clementine, she’s gone from being #1 two years ago, to being #10, and that’s after being #17 for a good while) Anyway, should I worry, or is Beatrix worth it? And which combo do you like best? I’d love to know. Anyone happening along, feel free to add your 2¢!  New voices are always welcome!

 Update: Down to three combos:
Beatrix Scarlet Jane
Beatrix Elinor Plum
Beatrix Jemima Alice

Have a favorite here? Let me know, if you’re reading!

Cecily & Cecilia

Cecilia has been one of my favorite names since at least Kindergarten.  It was my Babci’s name.  I was nearly cecilypatchwork2named for her which would have been weird as a kid, as my BFF is named Cecilia!  So, move forward all these years later and I am still loving Cecilia. Seems like a perfect sister for Josephine, no? If I named another girl Cecilia, she’d get lost with the three cousins I have already named that. They go by Ceil, Celia & Cecilia. Funnily enough, those cousins are half cousins and their Grandmother was Catherine. My Babci was wife #2!  So I started looking around for variants and rolled right into Cecily. Cecily’s perfect! She’s a bit frilly but no lacy little darling; Cecily’s got a core of steel. I like that the Cec- girls are also feminised boy names, in this case, from Cecil (which came from the Roman family name Caecilius, which was derived from Latin caecus” blind”. I don’t care about the meaning, my association is with Babci and St. Cecilia, patron Saint of Music!

We have finally decided on a combo: Cecily Pandora Jane. Cecily for My Babci, Pandora for his Mother, Jane for my Mom (her middle name).  It wasn’t easy coming to that decision either, here’s what we ran through coming to CPJ, in just the last three months (I won’t bore you with anything before that!):

Cecily Frances Rupinder           Cecily Jemima Frances
Cecily Zuleika Jane                   Cecily Rosalind Elinor
Cecily Esme Valentine              Cecily Mathilda Jane
Cecily Pomeline Jane                Cecily Eglantine Jane
Cecily Tallulah Alice                Cecily Juno Valentine
Cecily Saskia Jane                    Cecily Frances Petronel
Cecily Henrietta Plum              Cecily Frances Innogen
Cecily Harriet Valentina           Cecily Jemima Rosaline
Cecily Wilhelmina Violet          Cecily Jemima Marigold
Cecily Winifred Violet              Cecily Jemima Llanfaire
Cecily Flora Marilyn                 Cecily Frances Baudelaire
Cecily Marilyn Grace                Cecily Frances Ophelia
Cecily Marilyn Iris

😀 So you can see, Cecily Pandora Jane was no easy feat. It’s taken me a long time to warm up to Pandora.   I still am a tiny bit wary but I figure, in the middle she’s less likely to cause any damage in middle school. And if they give her too much grief, she can always say “It’s my NanaHoney’s name!” and that’s that.

Cecily’s absolutely terrific, feminine, strong, lyrical and the teensiest bit soft. I absolutely love her.
