The Official Girls List!

After three weeks of neverending name discussions we have a tenative girls list!
And boy, do I mean neverending. They start before breakfast, ” Which do you like better, Poppy, Penny or Nell”. Continues throughout the day in texts/chat/email, “What do you think of Philippa Andromeda”? and winds down over supper, “I still like Maud, could we give her initials that spell it out”? So I’m happy to report that from here on out, it’ll be a less intense discussion. 🙂

The list has 7 names plus 2 wildcards, one for Him (1) & one for me (2). Without further ado, the
‘Official’ Girls List!’

Penelope Juno Alice
Cecily Pandora Jane
Beatrix Juno Frances
Winifred Elinor Plum
Elspeth Scarlett Jane
Ottilie India Violet
Jemima Lucy Frances

(1) Philippa Guinevere Alice
(2) Clementine India Jane

Noot a bad set of 9,if I do say so myself. What do you think? Aw, c’mon, you know you wanna say something!

As always, thanks for reading! 😀

Back! And mulling Beatrix

Hi! Stuff got fixed faster than I believed it would! So, I’m back!

10 weeks and rethinking Beatrix. I’d had the lovely but unexciting Beatrix Violet Jane for a long time. I realised that I didn’t like Beatrix enough with that combo, lovely as it is. I’d been leaving Beatrix off my top 10 for months!

So to make Beatrix a bit more exciting, punchy and “now” I went hunting:
Beatrix Juno, Beatrix Io & Beatrix India all jumped to attention.
Juno is a favorite of mine, Io makes Ken shiver, almost literally. He thinks Io’s beautiful in the spare, clean way he loves.
So I paired both of our loves with my late Mom’s name: Frances.
Beatrix Juno Frances
Beatrix Io Frances

And decided on Grandma’s Lily after Beatrix India.

So the three of them look like this:

Beatrix Juno Frances
Beatrix India Lily
Beatrix Io Frances

Anyone care to pick a favorite? Talk to me so we can talk out the pros & cons of these? I know it’s been quiet here for far too long but… maybe?

As always, many thanks!

Have to Narrow it down a bit!

What to do? I now have a top 11 (12 if you count Cleo instead of considering her as alternate for Clementine) and this is insane. My boys are down to 9, and I could easily cut that to four without crying much, but the girls? My goodness, they grow & grow. I sat & looked at this list for about an hour last night and still can’t decide which to cut, or at least put in the wildcards list. I’ve already put Ottilie there, much to my chagrin, I’ve loved her for so long it hurts to see her way down there but I digress, because adding her would make it a top 12 (13 if you count Cleo)!

Here’s my most recent top 11, what would you cut out to make it 10 (or better yet, 8) and would you tell me why
you cut what you cut? I can’t make myself cut anything, I love them all!

Here (with possible nicknames):
Maud India Scarlett – Maudie, Mattie, Mims, Mimi
Beatrix Ivy Frances – Bea, Trixie, Bebe
Clementine India Maud – Cleo, Clio/Cleo Portia Rupinder
Winifred Elinor Plum – Winnie, Winne, Freda
Imogen Violet Jane – Immy, Mimi, Io
Tallulah Poppy Frances – Lulu, Lucy, Tula
Zelda Lucy Violet – Zella, Zellie, Zel
Edith Zenobia Violet – Edie, Dita
Penelope Saskia Violet – Nell, Poppy, Polly, Penny
Cecily Pandora Jane – Celie, Cece, Celia
Eulalie Frances Pearl – Lula, Lula, Lolly

Every time I try to cut one, I think Oh, not that one, it’s too pretty, too lovely, too sweet and try another and waaah! I just can’t do it! Help, please?

Thanks very much. I’d make a lousy surgeon, methinks!

Update on Trixie

Down to four, yes, four combos for her. Absolutely adore all four, help me pick one? Please? Without further ado, here they are, in all their glory on this yucky, snowy day!

snow-scene

Beatrix India Pearl– Not only Trixie, I could call her Bippy (My Mother would laugh)!

Beatrix Violet Jane – sweet, simple and pretty. I wonder though, is she too normal?

Beatrix Ivy Frances – Ivy ’cause I like it, fresh & green. Frances for Mom, as always.

Beatrix Violet Llanfaire– Llanfaire’s just a bit of medieval oddness that appeals to us both, Violet’s for my Auntie, as always.

So, there they are, which ones do you like and which one do you like for me? Tell me whatever crosses your mind about them, I’d love to hear!  And as always, thanks for stopping by!

A completely new thought

What do you think of Daisy Angeline? I stuck them together in my head and am rather pleased with the overall image and sound. I came up  with a  few combos for them as a middle. I could never use Daisy as a standalone name!
What do you think of these:

Cecilia Daisy Angeline
Elspeth Daisy Angeline
Matilda Daisy Angeline
Beatrix Daisy Angeline
Penelope Daisy Angeline
Winifred Daisy Angeline
Tallulah Daisy Angeline

Just random thinking today. I’m a bit scattered, oddly.  What do you think?  I’d love to know!

The Battling Girls!

I am going crazy over girls names. With boys, I’m much pickier and it’s easier to figure out what I really like vs. what I simply enjoy. With boys, it’s practically a three way tie between Cosmo, Rufus & Barnaby and that’s about it. Everything else on the list pales by comparison. So it’ll be easy to decide on a boys name if we have one.

But a girl? I’m going crazy, literally.

There’s the “normals”: Cecily, Beatrix & Clementine and the oddballs: Jemima, Zelda & Winifred.  I love all six of them and couldn’t decide which one I’d actually use if you paid me to decide.  I could have sextuplets and happily use them all. Sadly, it’s probably just one and I have to choose.  I love all their combos, really. Clementine’s probably been on the list longest of the normals, She went on the list back in ’95. Zelda’s been on the list of oddballs since ’73, since that’s when I first started keeping lists. She was on the mental list in ’69! I wanted to name my sister Zelda but Mom was having none of it.  Cecily & Winifred are  the newest; Winifred 5 years on, Cecily, two on. Beatrix & Jemima have probably been on the list for about 8 years now.

When I was deciding on Josephine’s name, I brought my notebooks of names in my bag and after she was born, I dug through the lists I had at the time, assembled what appealed in several instances and tried them out on her little self when she was in the room  (I only sent her back to the nursery once, that first night, so I could sleep. Otherwise she was in my room no-stop so I had plenty of time to try them all out.  I finally found something that not only made me sing, but seemed to suit her. I can’t explain how that huge name seemed to suit the little baby she was then, it just did.

How did you decide on your children(s) names? What were the deciding factors for you, How did you narrow it down? How do I do so?  Goddess knows, I’d happily name a girl all of these, ridiculous as it sounds but I know I can’t.  So, how do I go about choosing? Any hints? Pointers? Words of advice? Anything?   Help!

 Thanks!

Beatrix revisited

I’m still not entirely happy with her combo. Beatrix Poppy Elinor stands until I find something that really makes my heart sing. I’ve got beginnings that intrigue me:
Beatrix Jemima Frances/May/Alice/Rose, Realised Beatrix Pandora Jane is pretty spectacular, And Beatrix Scarlet Jane is rather pretty too. Beatrix Alice Rupinder is really close to making my heart pitter-pat. Alice Rupinder makes me sigh, Beatrix in front is swoony!

So I’m still thinking obviously, if anyone likes any of these thoughts, let me know. Maybe someone can toss something at me that would enlighten me?  Or should I just give up on Beatrix entirely? I feel as though I’ve been playing with her forever and I’m starting to bore myself, never mind other people! 😀

To lay it out, finally:

Beatrix Jemima Frances
Beatrix Pandora Jane
Beatrix Scarlet Jane
Beatrix Alice Rupinder
Beatrix Jemima May
Beatrix Jemima Rose
Beatrix Jemima Alice

or should I just stick with Beatrix Poppy Elinor because I like her just fine, she just doesn’t sing to me like Josephine’s name does for me.  I can’t seem to find anything that does sing to me with Beatrix.  Does that mean I should write her off?

I could use some help here, for sure!   Thanks!
