Some Newer Stuff

Well, “newer” is figurative. 🙂 I’ve had a few of these names on my lists before, I’m just liking them anew. Since I had so much down time, I worked on combos and came up with a handful that I really like. This is what I do with much of my free time (at least, in my head):

Romilly Allegra Violet
Penelope Violet Jane
India Ottilie Violet
Peregrin Henry Arthur
August James Tiberius
Matilda Esme Violet
Amos Willem Rafferty
Lucius George Pascal
Eulalie Saffron Jane

Romilly is back again, still searching for the perfect middles for India, Eulalie stays on the list despite Elisabeth having a brand new one while Matilda’s firmly on the list now and I’m still searching for the perfect middles for Penelope. Lucius never left, I’m still perfecting him and Amos is slowly replacing Clancy in my head.   Not entirely, but starting to. So here’s a related question for you folks:
Clancy or Amos, which do you like better (or which would you rather see on a real kid)?

So there they are, anything strike you as keepable?  I’d love to hear what you folks think!  As always, thanks a million for stopping by. And, I’m back!  😀

The Girly Wildcards

I have far too many wildcards, those combos I love but not as much as the top ones. Or in some cases, more, but I find them a tiny bit unwieldy for day to day use.

Ideally, I’d have a top 10 and 10 wildcards. Recently I’ve added three names to the wildcard list, bringing the total up to 16 Wildcards. There’s already 11 girls in the top 10 (I know, I know…) so I need to cull these down to three or four at best and am having the hardest time getting rid of any of them!

Ottilie Alice Ghislaine – Tillie, Ottilie, Leeloo, Lina
Susanna Ottilie Pearl – Sukie, Zuzu, Zanna
Pomeline Frances Elinor – Poppy, Polly, Millie, Molly, Lina

Laetitia Amabel Violet – Lettie, Etta, Lettice
Araminta Lucy Violet – Minna, Mina
Euphemia Elinor Glory – Effie, Mia, Fifi
Elspeth Margery Violet – Elsa, Elsie
Aurelia Romilly Jane – Goldie, Rellie
Mathilda Lucy Elanor – Tillie, Maud, Maudie
Henrietta Ruby Lilias – Hattie, Hettie,  Etta, Harriet
Lucretia Ruby Iris – Lucy, Lulu, Lux
Jemima Frances Ruby – Mimi, Jemma
Zuleika Esme Violet – Zuzu, Zooey
Zenaida Ruby Frances – Zen, Zeni,  Aida, Zinnia, Flower
Florence Lila Ghislaine – Flora, Flory, Fleur, Ren
Romilly Alice Kathleen – Romy, Millie

If pushed, I’d say probably the bolded 4 are the biggest loves but I’m already mourning the loss of 6 others not bolded. If you had to pick 4 from this list to use on a girl, which 4 would you pick and why? See why I’m having problems?   Any help at all would be completely appreciated!  Thanks!

Edith, Again!

I’ve been loving Edith/Edie for a good while now and have come up with a good dozen or so combos over that time that appeal to me in one fashion or another. Edith feels starchy and sweet to me, even artsy. The word that comes to mind first when I think Edith? bohemian. Yeah. And I love that. Edith could easily rank #2 if I find the combo that sings to me. All of these do, some in one style or the other but they all sing. Help me decide which one sings best? I’d really appreciate it! Here are the lot of them:

Edith Alice Bertille – the standard bearer. Elegant, luscious and sweet. She’s Barbershop.

Edith Esme Violetta – She’s Opera, without a doubt, Lush and heady.

Edith Rosalie Pearl – She’s a ditty. Sweet and happy.

Edith Malu Violet – She’s a Jungle rhythm. Heavy and full, very, very light on her feet. This one dances too.

Edith Ruby Elinor – She’s a Waltz. Feels very 18th century, to me.

Edith Viola Petronel – She’s musica mundana; universally harmonious. I love the creative vibe I get from her.

Edith Isobel Loveday –  Is Bluesy.  Just feels so blue and gorgeous.

Edith Ruby Pomeline –  Is a whole Orchestra! She’s full & rich. Just beautiful.

Edith Mary Bluebell – is a country tune. Sweet, a little sad but has a rollicking rhythm.

Edith Zenobia Violet –  She’s a Tango.  A little spicy and  sultry. 😉

Edith Romilly Lenore –  She’s a classical piece. She feels very faerie tale-ish to me. Light-hearted but has a dark streak. So lush!

Alright, there’s the different music types I get from each combo,  am I crazy or do you feel it too? At least a little bit?  Maybe?  Any up there that leap out at you as absolutely perfect? I’d love to know!

 as always, Thanks!

Beatrix, Again

I can’t seem to let go of Beatrix, but I am rethinking her combo. Beatrix Poppy Elinor charms me with her upbeat sound and her bright colors but it feels almost too “British” if that makes any sense. But Beatrix, I can’t shake her off. I keep thinking “I hear her a lot online” And that scares me off a bit. I don’t want her to have a dated name, and I’m a touch afraid that Beatrix might. But I like her so! So I’m rethinking middles for her.

Which means,  I’m running a poll at BtN, as usual, and as usual, here are those poll choices;  in case you don’t want to bother clicking.

Beatrix Elinor Plum – Elinor honors the cousin,  Plum has a luscious sound I just want to be able to say daily!

Beatrix Esme Ruby – Esme for Esmeralda who sounds ridiculous with my surname, Ruby’s for me, my birthstone!

Beatrix Esme Valentine – Mentioned Esme above, Valentine’s for my Pop.

Beatrix Alice Rupinder– Alice should have been my name, to honor thwarted Mom, Rupinder is just a love. I love her feel, her sound and her look. Can’t ask for more!

Beatrix Malu Primrose– I love the sound of Malu (meaning’s pretty awesome too) Primrose is a cousin.

Beatrix Romilly Violet– Finally, Romilly where I would feel more comfortable, Violet for my favorite Auntie on Mom’s side.

Beatrix Lily Alice – Lily for Grandma Lily, Alice for my Mom again.

Beatrix Oona Pearl– Oona’s a love, I like her swoop, her feel: sleek and Pearl because I like the way it looks and sounds follwing Oona.

and can’t forget to add the standard bearer: Beatrix Poppy Elinor  – Poppies are one of my favorite flowers, the color alone makes me smile. My Uncle Jim thinks Poppy’s for him, they’re apparently his favorite flowers too. And Elinor’s that cousin again.

So, should I even bother? Is Beatrix going to be the next to jump upwards? (this is the same problem I have with Clementine, she’s gone from being #1 two years ago, to being #10, and that’s after being #17 for a good while) Anyway, should I worry, or is Beatrix worth it? And which combo do you like best? I’d love to know. Anyone happening along, feel free to add your 2¢!  New voices are always welcome!

 Update: Down to three combos:
Beatrix Scarlet Jane
Beatrix Elinor Plum
Beatrix Jemima Alice

Have a favorite here? Let me know, if you’re reading!

Trying out some Oddballs

I’ve  been swirling these six around again. I like all of them pretty much equally and can only put one of each at #10. Three boys, three girls. Would you be so kind as to help me pick one and tell me why that one, in particular, please? I’d appreciate the help so very much!

Without further ado, the six:

Edward Balthazar George
Roland August Valentin
Harvey Valentin John

Mathilda Esme Primrose
Romilly Alice Kathleen
Maud India Scarlett

The boys truly are equal, I like Edward, Roland & Harvey all and wouldn’t be able to choose just one if my life depended on it! Of the girls, I want to choose Maud, as she’s a family name, where Romilly’s a place where family lives and Primrose is a still living cousin. Maud honors the same G. Grandma Josephine’s middle does. The middles are pretty equally split for honoring/sounding good/having good imagery for me. So please, pick one of each & tell me why!  Thanks!

Zelda Redux!

I’ve been playing around with Zelda again. I wasn’t quite happy with Zelda Rosalie Violet, there’s something a bit too relentlessly cheerful about her for me.  So I went digging  again and came up with these:

Zelda Violet Elinor
Zelda Violet Esmée
Zelda Violet Pearl
Zelda Lucy Violet
Zelda Violet Imogen
Zelda Cerys Violet
Zelda Esme Frances

So far, Zelda Violet Esmée, Zelda Lucy Violet & Zelda Esme Frances are all tied in the poll I’ve got going and honestly I couldn’t decide which one right now if I had to!

So I need to ask again, which would you pick, if you had to use one of these?

I’ll be running off for the wildcard spot too, since I have 5 girls:

Henrietta Ruby Lilias
Florence Lila Ghislaine
Romilly Alice Kathleen
Imogen Violet Jane (although he keeps shooting her down, I keep trying!)|
Eulalie Frances Madelief

and 5 boys:

Harvey Edward Augustin
Roland Edward Grey
Felix Edward Alasdair
Rufus John Porfirio
Francis Henry Porfirio

That I can’t decide between. I have room for 1 of each from each list on the big list. Wanna help me decide there too?  😀

 Thanks!

Romilly

Short post today, I’m feeling a bit under the weather.

I like this moniker, quite a bit, actually. There’s something very appealing about her looks or maybe it’s her sound,  don’t know.  But she’s been on my lists, in various places for nearly two years now. I just can’t shake her off. I had her up front: Romilly Alice Kathleen and I swear, I’d love to use it, as is.  I think she’s perfect!

Of course, she’s place namey and surnamey and only recently actually name-namey. 😛    Because of that, I’ve tried her in the middle in a host of combinations and have only recently found a combo I’m even remotely happy with: Winifred Romilly Violet.  But even then, I’d rather Romilly Alice Kathleen. *Sigh*

I’ve searched around and see it mainly as  a surname and I’ve seen it on someone else’s daughter, where it’s absolutely lovely. And think just maybe, it could stand to be on a few more girls!  I know she’s not exactly perfect next to sister Josephine but really, is Romilly all that bad? What do you think?

ETA: Running a Romilly poll today. We discussed her last night and came up with a few, somewhat pleasing alternatives. Take a peek and vote, if you want. Otherwise, here’s what’s on the poll:

Romilly Cerys Violet
Romilly Alice Kathleen
Romilly Alice Isobel
Romilly Iris Petronel
Romilly Lilias Jane
Romilly Elspeth Pearl
Romilly Violet Pearl

I have a favorite and a close runner up here. He has no major favorite, he just likes them all.  Can you help me?

Thanks!

Winifred :D

Winifred’s been on my mind for a few days. It’s my newest Auntie’s name (well, she’s been married to Skip for 5 years now, so new is a relative term…) and I like her very much, even though I only email with her and talk on the phone about once a week (someone needs to keep tabs on flaky Skip). I really like the sound of Winifred and find the possibility of Winnie to be most enticing. 😀   I could even pop in a Freda occasionally, I would think. 🙂   So, I’ve definitely been tossing around combos and have settled with this bunch as being most pleasing but cannot narrow it any further.  I’ll be posting them in a poll later on but for now, they’re just here. And here they are:

Winifred Elinor Plum
Winifred Romilly Violet
Winifred Ruby Katharine
Winifred Lily Alice
Winifred Esme Ruby
Winifred Carys Irena
Winifred Esme Ghislaine
Winifred Esme Loveday
Winifred June Kathleen/Winifred Kathleen June (I like this both ways!)
Winifred Poppy Esmée

What do you think of Winifred? Like her, hate her, love her? Think it’s insane to be thinking of Winifred these days? Maybe she’s ready for a comeback?  And, if you’d be so kind, which of the above combos do you like best and why. I’d appreciate it very much!  Thanks!

The Wildcards

I’ve got names I adore but find a bit hard to use in one manner or another. I try anyway. Figured I’d toss them out for the heck of it today. Here, for your perusal:

The Guys:

Clarence/Clancy– I adore him and he’s actually in the top 10 despite my problem with him. He’s strong, handsome & angelic. I love his gentle feel. My problem? His combo. I’ve tenatively got Clarence Henry Rafael, which is lovely and while I can live with it, it doesn’t make Clarence shine. I want him to sparkle. Any suggestions?

Malcolm  – He’s a long time love. I mean, Leo was nearly Malcolm, long time. I love his combo too Malcolm Barnaby Edward/Malcolm Edward Barnaby (haven’t decided which way I like it best yet). My problem? I need someone to tell me Malcolm MacK isn’t as clowny sounding as I think it is.  He even sounds awesome with the sibset. *sigh* Talk me into him!

Bruno
– He’s a family surname of sorts (my Stepmom’s maiden name) and I really like his combo: Bruno Henry Valentin.  I like him lots and think he sounds pretty great with the sibset. My probelm with him? The other half’s not too sure about him and others think he’s a dog. It shouldn’t bother me (doesn’t with Cosmo), but for some reason, that does.

Blaise– I love his brainy, artistic feel and think he goes most superbly with the sibset but I don’t even have him paired, everyone instinctively spells him Blaze, Ugh.

Perry – I adore his easy, breezy style and his lighthearted feel.  I first think Perry White or Perry Mason but even Perry the platypus doesn’t bother me.  I don’t have him paired either, the other half think it’s going to the girls. Anyone have an argument for Perry on a boy?

The Gals:

Romilly – Yes, she’s placename-y (doesn’t bother me, I have cousins in one of the Romillys), and Romy honors a  Rosemary indirectly (that works in my huge family). Milly/Millie, she’s just sweet.  I love her two combos: Romilly Alice Kathleen (honors more, Kathleen’s my sister, Alice was to have been my name) & Romilly Elinor Blythe (Blythe I just like here, very much). My problem? She’s quite odd with the sibset. *sigh*

Pandora– I so would love to use this as a first name, to heck with it to meshing with the sibs. It honors, and I love both her sound and her meaning ‘all gifts’. But “the box” teasing may be too much in middle school as a first so I have her in the middle: Cecily Pandora Jane. Tell me it’s alright, please.  🙂

Araminta– Another one I’ve loved for a good while. I love her frill, her feel and her femininity. She’s lovely but not weak. And Min/Minna & Mina as possible nicknames enchant me to no end. I love her combo: Araminta Alice Green. If anyone knows their “Freedom Train” (not the 1976 one, either) history, they’ll know where Green came from here.  I need Min/Mina somewhere and this works best for me. And Green is so calm and clean, too. Not like the blues or pinks.

Esmeralda– The name of my G. Grandma’s oldest sister. Utterly lovely and breaks down to the tiny & divine Esme.  My problem? She’s quite a bit clashy with the surname: Esmeralda MacK? I don’t think so.

Wilhelmina – I’ve loved her for at least 5 years.  And I love her potential obvious nicknames: Willa & Mina. My problem? She’s impossible to pair.  Anyone have any ideas?

Xanthe– Love, love, love Xanthe’s breezy sound and snazzy looks. Her meaning’s wicked cool too. I even adore her combo: Xanthe Rosalind Elinor. Problem? Josephine & Xanthe?  Mmm, I don’t think so. Talk me into it, if you do.

And there they are. Lovely, one & all and for the most part usable but not always for me.
