Marvelous Margery!

I’ve mentioned Margery in the past, I’m sure. I’ve loved Margery for a long time. I’d nn her Daisy!

My problem with Margery is that she feels more like *my* name than her big sister’s. So I went digging, again, to try to find middles that made Margery more elegant. I found some that appeal quite a bit but I need help narrowing them down!

I can make combos all day, they’re fun to do. But I went a bit overboard with Margery:

Margery Elinor Blythe
Margery Luna Frances
Margery Frances Amabel
Margery Lucy Frances
Margery Primrose June
Margery Elinor Primrose
Margery Louisa Romilly
Margery Isobel Blythe
Margery Juno Coralie
Margery Honey Llanfaire
Margery Violet Leonie
Margery Frances Ruby
Margery Alice Mimosa
Margery Elinor Rosamond
Margery Elspeth Violet
Margery Honey Annabel
Margery Io Violet

See what I mean? πŸ˜€
I’m partial to a few of them, but not attached to any one overmuch, can I have some help choosing? I’d appreciate comments with any choices, so I know why they got chosen.

As always, thank you for stopping by! πŸ˜€

Rethinking Winifred!

I’ve had Winifred Elinor Plum on my list forever. It’s light, a bit whimsical and still pretty in a solid sort of way.
Winifred’s my Auntie’s name and she’d be tickled persimmon if we used it. She goes by Win sometimes, but most often is just Winifred. I love Winnie and Freda equally. I actually think, in a perfect world, that Freda has far more character than Winnie. But I digress.

I’ve decided to try Winifred out in new ways, maybe enveloping a muse or minor goddess since they thrill the Mr. so.

So here’s what we’ve whittled the masses of combos we came up with down to:

Winifred Juno Frances
Winifred Cleo Elinor
Winifred Juno Gwendolen
And
Winifred Xanthe Amabel

I couldn’t decide if my life depended on it. Anyone wanna try picking one and telling me why they chose that particular one? I’d really appreciate it! Please?

Also working on sweet Margery (I’ll call her Daisy!), Tallulah, Philippa & Susanna. Bt have to admit, Susanna’s giving me fits! More to come. Stay tuned! πŸ˜€

Official note

I will not be posting here or anywhere for a good while. What I’ve been using to post has been broken and I’m borrowing one to post this.
I will be back sometime in the future. Look for me at Appellation Mountian, Nameberry or here. Lola’s the name, don’t forget it!

August revisited

August is in the works again. I love the nod to my Mom, born in August 1940. If August Francis didn’t trip me up, he’d be *the* combo. Sadly, it does. So, I went digging and the three following have approval, but I can’t decide! Can you help?
They are:

August Lucien Reuel – I really like him, but nothing falls below the line. Visually, that bothers me. How much? Enough that I kept fiddling! Lucien, he loves & we’re both huge Tolkien fans, hence the lesser used Reuel at the end. Look up Reuel’s meaning too, it’s fabulous!

August James Tiberius – Yes, Yes, I KNOW, but it pleases him to no end and I love James Tiberius by itself, but don’t want to hear “Star Trek Fans much?” all the time. So I kept looking. James honors my lovely Uncle and “James Tiberius” is awesome on it’s own.

August Galen Aloysius – Now, *this* one, I love. Utterly. AG, Augie & Gus are all lovely nickname possibilities. He doesn’t mind Galen in the middle (we both say GALE-en), and Aloysius honors.

August isn’t our front runner, but he could go as high as #3, in the end (and we take top 5 with us). So there you go! Which one would *you* pick and why, if you please!

Thanks a million, as always.

Loving Penelope!

I’ve been absolutely loving Penelope lately. I adore her galloping sound, and her elegant look. Poppy is my preferred nickname, although Nell & Polly are two other possibilities. Penny does not appeal at all, which is funny as it’s the most intuitive of the bunch.
I even have two combos I adore:
Penelope Oona Violet &
Penelope Luna Violet
Yes, I know they sound alike, Oona & Luna. I love the “oo” sound!

I’m going to ask you all to pick one & tell me why you did. I’d love to know! Because I can’t decide. Today I like Oona better. Tomorrow I’ll probably prefer Luna. πŸ˜€ Any help at all will be happily received! Thanks!

Much Maligned Lettice…

I adore Lettice. No, not the green, leafy veggie (although I like it well enough), Lettice is the medieval variant of Laetitia/Letitia/Leticia. Lettice Knowles is where I first found her and while she’s not the best namesake, I do so love her name!

I even found a combo I’m incredibly pleased with: Lettice Coralie Jane. I know Lettice Coraline Jane flows better, but I’m really not thrilled with Coraline. But Coralie makes me sing. So Lettice Coralie Jane stays as is. I think it’s *so*8 perfect. Lettie is a love. I’ve tried Laetitia out before, as well as Leticia & Letitia. The whole *tit* thing bugs me in two versions and Leticia feels too Spanish to be comfortable for me. So again, Lettice appeals most.

I really don’t see the problem with the similarity to the veggie, I mean, other kids are given outright vegetable/fruit names (Hello: Apple)
So why pick on the green one? And if she’s Lettie 99% of the time, where’s the problem? I swear, if there ever another girl, the two going with me are Maud India Scarlett & Lettice Coralie Jane.

And as a small note: The girl informed me that her girls will be Violet & Lily yesterday. πŸ˜€

Xanthe Redux

I am still crushing on Xanthe. I know, I know, she’s not the most fitting sister for Josephine but I adore Xanthe as much as Josephine. Also, if you crush on a name for more than a year, is it still a crush name? πŸ˜€

Either way, I still adore Xanthe and thought to try her out paired with another, longer love: India. I’d much rather India in the middle where her overtones are hidden a bit. Next to Xanthe, India shines for me.

Here are a handful of combos I came up with earlier, what do you think of them?

Xanthe India June
Xanthe India Lenore
Xanthe India Violet (maybe too much color?)
Xanthe India Annabel
Xanthe India Margaret
Xanthe India Rosamund
Xanthe India Gwendolyn

Anything jump out at you?

Just wondering. I’d love to hear thoughts on Xanthe, Xanthe India & the full combos I’ve got. Anyone? πŸ™‚

As always, thanks a million for reading!

Pandora

Yes, I know the myth. I think she was gypped, myself and isn’t my first thought in any case. Pandora is the long suffering “almost” mother in law I have. She is an awesome lady and absolutely deserves to be honored in some way.
Now, I have Pandora in the middle of our top combo: Cecily Pandora Jane but decided to pair it with *my* Mother’s pair of names, Frances & Jane. Pandora’s up front & in the middle here, so would you be so kind & humor me ? I’d love to know how crazy I am, thinking of Pandora up front!

!Fanfare!

Cecily Pandora Jane or:

Cecily Pandora Frances
Pandora Frances Jane
Pandora Frances Isobel
Jemima Frances Pandora
Pandora Margery Frances
Pandora Lucy Frances
Winifred Pandora Jane
Pandora Lilia Frances
Beatrix Pandora Jane
Pandora Guinevere Jane

So… how crazy am I, really? I firmly like Dora/Dorrie and think Panda is a cute enough nickname for while she’s little, at least!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Pandora, if you’d be so kind!

As always, comments or not, thanks for stopping by! πŸ˜€

Marilyn

Marilyn is my favorite Auntie. She’s the exact same age as my lovely (long gone) Mother which makes me think of her as a sort of surrogate Mom. πŸ™‚

I’ve been toying with Marilyn for awhile now, thinking it would be nice to honor her (her girls, my cousins, haven’t yet, and between the 3 of them, they have 3 kids, two girls & a boy). I think she’d be tickled pink even if I used it as a middle. So I mixed it up:

Iris Marilyn
Elinor Marilyn
Ivy Marilyn
Marilyn Isis
Jane Marilyn/Marilyn Jane
Marilyn Ruby
Marilyn Primrose
Marilyn June
Viola Marilyn
Juno Marilyn
Esme Marilyn
Marilyn Anoush
Lucy Marilyn
Flora Marilyn
Marilyn Poppy
Saffron Marilyn/Marilyn Saffron
Isobel Marilyn
Cleo Marilyn
Marilyn Plum
Ottilie Marilyn
Xanthe Marilyn
Lily Marilyn
Daisy Marilyn
Violet Marilyn/Marilyn Violet
Sylvie Marilyn
ETA: What about Winifred Marilyn/Marilyn Winifred?
I surprised myself a bit, there are a few up there that are quite pleasing to me. What I’m asking is this: Are there any up there that please you in any way? Do you think Marilyn’s ready to come back?
I’d love to hear opinions!

As always, thanks a million for stopping by!

Loverly Elspeth!

I’m completely taken with Elspeth. Sweet, pretty and fun to say & spell, the possibilty of Elsa or Elsie just makes me sing.
So I sat down the other day and came up with something like three dozen combos. Then we weeded through them, tweaked a few and the following (that I’d like you to look at) are the ones that survived. A mere 6 combos. Would you please give me your thought on them or at least tell me which one You’d choose & why?
I’d appreciate it immensely!

Without further ado, Elspeth:

Elspeth Coralie Jane
Elspeth Violet Elinor
Elspeth Cleo Violet
Elspeth Poppy Elinor -my favorite
Elspeth Honey OphΓ©lie – his favorite
Elspeth Honey Aurelia

And that’s all folks. I really appreciate the time it takes to comment or just read, thank you so very much! πŸ˜€

The Trouble with Lucy & why Lucretia!

Beloved little Lucy. It was my Mother’s nickname for me from birth to her death. I can count on two hands the times I answered to my own name or my standard nickname. My problem with Lucy is multiple: Lucy ends the same as my surname and is a bit short next to Josephine. With Josephine & Lucy, I feel one of them is going to end up hating me for the length of her name!

So I turned to my favorite longer Luc- name, Lucretia. I am a big fan of Lucrezia Borgia, misunderstood woman that she was. Of course, Lucrezia doesn’t go over well, spelling-wise. That ‘z’ is cool, but clunky. Hence Lucretia. Yes, I know it reminds folks of ‘secretion’ and in general doesn’t appeal to many but I adore the name.

I had Lucretia Ruby Iris on my list until I realised her initials would be LRIM… so I went looking for a more fortuitous pairing. I came up with a good double handful that please me in various ways. Without further ado, Lucretia!

Lucretia Iris Valentine
Lucretia Ruby Elinor
Lucretia Elinor Maud
Lucretia Elinor Valentine
Lucretia Elinor Jane
Lucretia Iris Jane
Lucretia Romilly Jane
Lucretia Maud Viola
Lucretia Sylvie Violet
Lucretia Violet Elspeth

I have two up there that really make my heart race, can you tell me which ones do anything for you?Keep in mind Lucretia, like Josephine, would go by a nickname 98% of the time (Lucy or Lulu for sure).

As always, I massively appreciate you stopping by and any thoughts you care to share ! And Thank You! πŸ˜€

Rex is King!

I’ve been mildly obsessing over Rex the last few days and am attempting to put him in front, which is proving difficult.

Now, I’ve had Rex as a nickname for Remy Edward Xavier (read the initials) and Remy is not leaving my lists anytime soon. Remy is fabulous with my surname!

But I digress. Rex. Rex is simple, strong, snappy and above all, regal. I like all that. So, here are my first attempts to pair Rex:

Rex Peregrin James
Rex Edward Valentine
Rex Alasdair John
Rex Willem James
Rex Willem Wilder
Rex Henry Gavriil
Rex William Valentin
Rex Aurelian Edward
Rex Taliesin John
Rex Valentin James
Rex Alasdair James

So, anything up there jump out at anyone as pretty good? Do I need to hit the lists again? I know Rex is not everyone’s cup of meatloaf, but really…talk to me! I’d love to hear opinions!

As always, Thanks a million for stopping by. πŸ˜€
