Susanna’s new to my lists, sort of. I’ve toyed with her before. She’d honor me; Susanne is my second middle for my mom’s best friend. I really dislike Susanna with the ‘H’ on the end, that ‘H’ clunks it up too much for me. But Susanna, just beautiful. I like the potential for Sukie/Sookie and have been wondering if Daisy as a possible nickname isn’t too far-fetched. After all black-eyed susans are a type of daisy, right? So yeah, another way to get Daisy. I love Daisy. My Grandma would be thrilled! Of course, now the house would be K, L, L, S, J & S, which rather annoys me but not so much that I still want to consider Susanna.

Susanna is lovely. I used to prefer the H spelling, but, like you, think that it’s less clunky without it. I think Susie and Sookie are adorable, but Daisy is a bit far-fetched. No more so than Daisy for Margaret, but that’s an established nickname, I guess. It could work, but I wouldn’t even guess a Daisy was actually Susanna.
Out of the combos, I like best:

Lucy Pearl
All of them are so light and lovely, though! They remind me a bit more of my own style than yours usually do. I pretty much like them all!

Well, Susie was the name of my brother’s cat, so I don’t think Susie would go over very well in our family. But Sukie, Zuzu and Zanna/Sanna would. I agree, Daisy is a bit of a stretch but not so bad it’s undoable. I think I’m keeping it an option. Heck, if Grandma could get away with calling me Lily for 30 years, I could call a Susanna of mine Daisy.

Susanna Edith Plum’s a beaut, indeed. He’s not so fond of her right now. He’s clamoring for Susanna Elspeth June, says “Susanna Elspeth, Elisabeth Susanne, Hah, she’s you, backwards”! and Susanna Ottilie Pearl is, to quote him “Terminally elegant” Whereas Susanna Poppy Adele floats my boat right along with Susanna Edith Plum & Susanna Romilly Violet. I think she’s definitely going on the formal list… but which one & where? Off to stew!

I toy with Susannah (sorry, with the H!) myself. My middle name was Suzanne before I moved my maiden name into its place after I got married. And my mom is Susan. So it’d be nice to pass a form of the name down. That said, I love Susannah Ivy Jane. So springlike and fresh to me!
I love Daisy for Susannah & I think you could also justify the nickname Lily- since that’s what Susannah means, afterall.

It’s fun to see you play with Susanna, since she’s in my top 10, too. Because of that, I’m likely to pick the favorites that feel the most “me” — not sure if I can avoid it. My favorites are:

Funny, we all seem to be thinking alike these last couple days. Yesterday, after I posted my “Names that are Unexpectedly Biblical” post, I went over to Nameberry and saw they had done a post on biblical names. And yesterday Abby and I both used the words “Good Book” in our intro paragraphs (and I never call it the Good Book). Very strange!

Thanks for the vote For Susanna Elspeth June. I think it’s down to a battle between Susanna Elspeth June & Susanna Ottilie Pearl, which completely enchants me. I’m going to have to run those two off sometime soon.

I like Susanna Elspeth June and Ottilie Pearl a lot! Both are gorgeous in their own way. Elspeth June is more laid back and relaxed sounding. Ottilie Pearl is fancier and frillier. Hmmm…. I think I’ll vote for … Ottilie Pearl. But I’m not sure. I’m so bad at making decisions, if you haven’t noticed 🙂 This morning, my mother and I were trying to decide which color wastebasket looked better in our bathroom – blue or white, and we still haven’t come to a decision! 🙂 Anyways, I think I’m going to vote for Susanna Ottilie Pearl. (Sorry to Susanna Elspeth June! You are lovely as well!)

I know it’s been a little while since this was posted, but I thought I’d add my two cents anyway.
I have to agree with you husband and Emmy Jo. Susanna Elspeth June is my favorite here! It’s biblical, but not too, and Elspeth gives her this Highland quality that’s at once feminine and hardy. June helps lighten the whole thing – keeps her lighthearted.
Also, I think, as the mother, you can nickname your girl whatever you want. I don’t personally see Daisy for Susanna, but if that’s what you want that is certainly what you should have! I know a mother who calls her Madeline, Fiki (sp). Short for some Italian word that means some Italian thing. She has another daughter named Mary Catherine, and even though the nickname Mary Cate is obvious, her father is the only person in the world that calls her that.
I like plain old Suse for Susanna. But, that’s just me. (Funnily enough, the family I was just talking about has another daughter named Suse – short for nothing else.)
My second and third favorites would be Susanna Edith Plum and Poppy Adele.
